Meet Al
Al Drake-Brockman is an experienced sound engineer and business owner, with eight years of professional gigs and a hugely successful studio to his name. Inspired by his uncle’s career as a musician, sound engineer and advocate for local music, Al began exploring the world of professional audio and sound engineering while he studied and worked in London as an accountant. By 2014, he was able to transition into working full time in the music and events industry, manning the sound desk for small venues and forming part of the crew on bigger arena gigs.
When he returned to his family home in Kent, Al started work on redeveloping Doz Recording Studios, with the aim of restoring its legacy as the go-to recording and rehearsal space for musicians in the Southeast and beyond.
As a studio owner and freelance sound engineer, Al works on a multitude of projects day to day – from recording, mixing, and mastering original music in the studio, to working on live gigs, tours, and festivals, including Local & Live and the Grey Lady sessions.
Whatever the project, Al will match the passion and energy you have for your music, allowing you to focus on the creative process while he manages everything else. Being inspired and influenced by all styles of music and recording techniques from 50s jazz and blues to modern day folk and rock, he likes to take a personalised considered approach to every project and client to make sure that you can come away with the best result possible for you.
